Fishing in the Vézère valley with a fishing permit
On the river
The Vézère river crosses the department for 78km and is classified as a 2nd category river.
The river is bordered by a wild and magnificent scenery, overhung by cliffs sheltering prehistoric sites, 15 of which are registered on the UNESCO World Heritage list. In a sumptuous landscape, fishing is plentiful, both from the riverbank and by boat, and the fish are abundant.
The Vézère is mainly frequented by migratory fish such as salmon, sea trout, shad and lamprey, pike, zander, carp, perch, roach, bleak, catfish and eel.
The Lakes
The Fongran lake in Thonac is open from the 2nd Saturday in March to the end of October.
The Lake of Tamniès
In addition to being a swimming lake, Tamniès is also a fishing lake open from May to December.
To access the lake you must buy a special permit from Tamniès town hall (05 53 29 68 95).
Fishing in the Vézère valley without a fishing permit
From June to September, the Etang du Bos in Saint Chamassy offers you the opportunity to fish in its 7000m² lake (booking required). Roach, gudgeon, carp, tench, perch and pike-perch are waiting for you!

• The campsite "PRL Aux Etangs du Bos" in Audrix has a 7000m² fishiing lake.
• The campsite "La Castillonderie" in Thonac has a 3000m² lake.
• The campsite "Le Verdoyant" in Thenon has 2 lakes.
