The Vézère Valley, a gastronomic destination

LIKE EVERYWHERE ELSE IN THE DORDOGNE, THE VÉZÈRE VALLEY EXCELS IN EVERYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH GASTRONOMY.

The word Périgord immediately brings to mind Périgord foie gras, duck breast, Périgord black truffles, ceps and AOC Périgord walnuts, all of which are jewels of French gastronomy recently recognized by UNESCO and which delight the taste buds.

An infinite number of recipes are possible thanks to the extreme diversity of these ingredients.

EXCEPTIONAL PRODUCTS BEARING OFFICIAL QUALITY LABELS: AOC/AOP AND IGP

No great dishes without great ingredients. Supported by quality agriculture, the gastronomy of the Périgord is based on emblematic quality products.

It benefits from three IGPs (Protected Geographical Indications) for: duck foie gras, strawberries and lamb. The IGP means that the products you eat are raised in the Périgord and respect a stringent quality charter.

Other products have the AOC designation, such as the Noix du Périgord.

THE GASTRONOMY OF THE PERIGORD, A RICH AND ENJOYABLE CUISINE

The gastronomy of the Périgord transforms simple local products into refined and delicate dishes. Here, nothing is lost, everything is used.

"It is not only a country where one eats well, it is also a country where one eats with finesse and where cooking is considered to be one of the most beautiful arts" said André Maurois.

As for Curnonsky, he said: "The Périgord was born from a fairy's wand, and here gluttony is not a sin, it is a true Paradise where the Gods are satisfied".

RESTAURANTS IN THE DORDOGNE PÉRIGORD
