Lascaux II, opened to visitors in 1983, is the first facsimile of the original cave to be 90% reconstituted, the site is still open to visitors. 
Lascaux IV – International Center for Cave Art allows you to discover the entire Lascaux cave and, thanks to new technologies, better understand cave art.  

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PREHISTORY INTERPRETATION CENTER AND THE NATIONAL PREHISTORY MUSEUM IN EYZIES?

Le  Prehistory interpretation center  highlights the heritage of the Vézère Valley and presents the different sites and important places in our territory.
It is an excellent starting point for your vacation before visiting other sites (caves, museum, etc.). Thanks to original supports such as a 3D visual, the digital space, an educational room. You will discover prehistory in a fun way. 

Le National Museum of Prehistory exhibits collections, ancient objects from prehistoric sites: art objects, bones, tools... you can visit the museum on your own or by following a guide. It is the ideal place to understand the prehistoric era. 

HOW TO VISIT FONT DE GAUME CAVE AND LES COMBARELLES CAVE?

Reservations for Les Grottes de Font de Gaume and Combarelles are only online on the site www.sites-les-eyzies.fr 

Numbers of visitors limited to 13 people per visit for Font de Gaume and 7 people per visit for Combarelles.

WHERE TO WALK IN NATURE IN THE VÉZÈRE VALLEY?

We have many hiking trails, short or long, in the Vézère valley. You will appreciate the diversity of plants, fauna and our local heritage thanks to these paths

At the Tourist Office, you will find hiking maps as well as hiking maps. MTB circuits with different levels of difficulty. 

WHAT MEANS OF TRANSPORT TO COME?

The best solution for traveling through the Vézère valley is your own car.
Trains stop at Le Bugue, Les Eyzies, Condat sur Vézère, Le Lardin St Lazare and Sarlat. Afterwards, you will need to rent a car or take a taxi.

By bus there are regular lines all year round between Périgueux, Montignac-Lascaux and Sarlat
as well as Montignac-Lascaux, Terrasson and Brive la Gaillarde

In summer, there is a summer line between Montignac-Lascaux and Le Bugue which stops at several places in the Vézère Valley. There is also a line between Sarlat and Les Eyzies 

WHERE TO SLEEP WITH MY MOTORHOME IN THE VÉZÈRE VALLEY?

Most campsites have pitches for motorhomes. But you can also park on service areas specially designed in a few villages: Le Bugue, Les Eyzies, Saint Léon sur Vézère and Montignac. 

WHERE TO SWIM IN THE VÉZÈRE VALLEY?

En été, municipal swimming pools de Montignac-Lascaux, Le Bugue and Audrix are open.
Ponds are also open for swimming in season, such as the Coucou pond, the Bos pond and the Tamniès pond.
An aqualud space is also present at Jacquou Parc. 

WHAT SPORTS CAN YOU PRACTICE IN THE VÉZÈRE VALLEY?

De many sports are available to you: horse riding, climbing, golf, mountain biking, orienteering, road cycling, archery, paragliding are practiced all year round. And in season, canoeing, paddle boarding, tree climbing, caving, etc.
