From Montignac-Lascaux, famous for its cave of the same name, you will follow small country roads past the superb viewpoint of Escaleyrou in Aubas. You'll pass through Condat sur Vézère, an ancient Templar village, before reaching Terrasson, the garden city of the valley. On the way back, you'll cycle through the Coly valley, passing through Saint Amand de Coly, where you won't want to miss the imposing Cistercian abbey.

Step 1

Departure from Montignac Tourist Office.
Turn right onto "rue du 4 septembre" as you leave the car park. Continue straight ahead on Avenue Jean Jaurès, signposted "Sarlat".
After 900m, before the old SNCF bridge (Pont de Messoul), turn left onto the D45, signposted AUBAS. Stay on the D45 for about 3km, then turn right at the stop sign for "Château de la Fleunie".
After 100m, turn right twice onto the small road, signposted "Les Genèbres_Péchani" "Château de la Fleunie". Go straight on, passing "Vigne fermée". Stay on the V2 signposted "Condat".
At the top of the hill, be sure to stop at the "Escaleyrou" viewpoint and continue on the V2 to the village of Condat. Cross the village to the stop sign.
Go straight ahead and take the first road on the right, signposted "Terrasson". At the end of the road, turn left. Stay on C1 until you reach Terrasson, passing through "Bouillac".

Step 2

In Terrasson, at the traffic lights, turn right, go along the espalier car park and take the first road on the right signposted "Tranche_La Barétie". Follow "La Barétie", go through the hamlet and follow "Tranche - Bouch" and "Coly". Go through "Bouch", cross the small bridge over the Coly stream and, at the stop sign, turn left onto the RD62 for about 1km as far as Coly. Go through the village (past the town hall) and turn right towards "Saint Amand de Coly". Stay on this road until you reach Saint Amand de Coly. At the foot of the village, follow signs for the D704, Montignac and Sarlat. At the top of the hill, turn right at the stop sign, signposted "Drouille - Malardel". At the crow's feet, turn left towards "Drouille" then stay on the road, leaving "Drouille" on the right to join the D704. At the stop sign, turn right onto the D704 and continue for 3km to Montignac. Just after entering Montignac, turn left towards "Bord" and continue right along the "Chemin des découvreurs de Lascaux". At the stop sign, turn right and at the 2nd stop sign, take the small road opposite. At the end of the road, turn right, pass a wash-house and, at the stop sign, turn left into the centre of Montignac.
At the stop sign, turn right to return to the Tourist Office.
