Description

From Montignac-Lascaux, famous for its cave of the same name, you will walk along small country roads passing by the superb viewpoint of l'Escaleyrou in Aubas. You will cross Condat sur Vézère, an ancient Templar village before reaching Terrasson, the garden town of the valley. On the return, you will cycle through the Coly valley passing Saint Amand de Coly where you will not miss the imposing Cistercian abbey.

Getting to the starting pointto report a problem

Step 1

Departure Montignac Tourist Office.
Turn right into “Rue du 4 Septembre” when leaving the car park. Continue straight on Avenue Jean Jaurès, direction “Sarlat”.
At 900m, before the old SNCF bridge (Pont de Messoul), turn left onto D45, direction AUBAS. Stay on the D45 for around 3km then at the stop sign, turn right into “Château de la Fleunie”.
After 100m, turn right twice on the small road, direction “Les Genèbres_Péchani” “Château de la Fleunie”. Go straight, pass to “Closed vineyard”. Stay on V2 direction “Condat”.
At the top of the hill, don't forget to stop at the "Escaleyrou" viewpoint and continue on V2 to the village of Condat. Cross it until the stop sign.
Go opposite and take the first road on the right, direction “Terrasson”. At the end of the street, turn left. Stay on C1 until Terrasson passing through “Bouillac”.

Step 2

In Terrasson, at the traffic lights, turn right, walk along the espalier parking lot and take the first road on the right towards “Tranche_La Barétie” Follow “La Barétie”, cross the hamlet and follow “Tranche – Bouch” “Coly”. Cross “Bouch”, pass the small bridge over the Coly stream and at the stop sign, turn left on the RD62 for about 1km to Coly. Cross the village (pass at the foot of the town hall) and turn right towards “Saint Amand de Coly”. Stay on the road until Saint Amand de Coly. At the foot of the village, take direction “D704” “Montignac” “Sarlat”. At the top of the hill, at the stop sign, go right, direction “Drouille – Malardel”. At the crow's foot, turn left towards “Drouille” then stay on the road, leaving “Drouille” on the right to join the D704. At the stop sign, at the D704, turn right to Montignac for 3km. Just after entering Montignac, turn left towards “Bord” while continuing to the right on the “Chemin des discovereurs de Lascaux”. At the stop sign, go right and at the 2nd stop sign, take the small road opposite. At the end of the road, turn right, pass a wash house and at the stop sign, turn left to reach the center of Montignac.
At the stop sign, go right to return to the Tourist Office.
