In the footsteps of the Lascaux Men Stage 6: Le Bugue-Limeuil
From Terrasson-Lavilledieu to Limeuil, where the Vézère joins the Dordogne, the river flows through one of the most beautiful regions of Périgord. This sixth stage will take you from Le Bugue to Limeuil. Le Bugue, situated at the confluence of the Vézère and Douch rivers, has been a place of passage since prehistoric times (Bara Bahau cave). The village grew up around a convent founded in 964 and the port used by the ironmasters. Then head for Limeuil, where the steep gradient will allow you to turn around for a spectacular panoramic view of the valley. Arrive in Limeuil at the confluence of the Dordogne and Vézère rivers: visit this village, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, with its panoramic gardens, its medieval part and the remains of its fortifications, and its port part on the rivers.
