Holidays at Limeuil by the tourist office of Dordogne

At the confluence of rivers Vézère and Dordogne

Limeuil is located at the confluence of the river Vézère and the river Dordogne at 5 km from Le Bugue.
Certified among "The most beautiful villages of France", you will discover the village by strolling its alleys. The bottom of the village is built around the Place du Port which was very useful in the Middle Ages when the gabarres unloaded their load from the Massif Central. Then climb up the Grande Rue which is the main street of Limeuil. Most of the houses along this street were rebuilt in the 19th and 20th centuries, but some have kept the features of the past: arched doors, houteaux, flagstone roofs, ...
In medieval times, these modest houses served as a "shield" by doubling the ramparts that surrounded the entire city. On either side of this Grande Rue are two fortified gates.
