The Rouffignac cave is one of the largest known decorated caves, with eight kilometres of galleries. Initially frequented by cave bears, whose claws and nests are numerous, it was decorated around 15,000 years ago by prehistoric artists, who drew or engraved 260 representations of bison, horses, ibex and woolly rhinoceroses, but above all 160 mammoths. An electric train takes visitors on a guided tour of the site.
