Lascaux II
As you enter the cave of Lascaux II, the facsimile of the famous prehistoric cave located in Montignac, 25 km from Sarlat, you are likely to think of the four boys who discovered the original cavity just 200 m from here by the greatest of coincidences in September of 1940. Since 1983, technological developments and scientific precision have made it possible to re-create - on the same hillside - the atmosphere of the most famous Palaeolithic sanctuary in the world, including the Great Hall of Bulls and the Painted Gallery. Please note that tickets are sold in the centre of Montignac from April to September. In July and August, two ticket counters are open in the centre of Montignac. Counter n° 1 sells same-day tickets and counter n° 2 sells tickets for one to four days in advance. Reservation is recommended at counter n° 2 during crowded periods. Groups by reservation.
