Village de Thonac

In the heart of the Vézère valley in Dordogne, Thonac is a village in Périgord Noir on the outskirts of the commune of Montignac which owes its reputation to the Lascaux cave.

Nestled against the right bank of the Vézère, Thonac forms the link between the sites of the valley such as the Thot, the castle of Losse or the site of Castel-Merle in Sergeac. Although crossed by one of the most picturesque tourist routes in the Périgord Noir, between the major sites downstream and the immense reputation of Lascaux upstream, Thonac preserves its characteristics as an entirely rural commune.
