Le Conquil - Troglodyte site
From the centre of Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, one of France's most beautiful villages halfway between the Lascaux cave and Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil, cross the Vézère to Le Conquil.
A visit along the banks of the Vézère will reveal authentic rock shelters occupied by man since prehistoric times, then developed and fortified in the Middle Ages. A veritable "safe" for goods and a place of refuge, this is one of the few authentic sites from our past to have retained all its value as a testimony, both in terms of the layout of the shelters and defence systems, and in terms of its wild, natural setting.
Take a guided tour and discover how man has adapted to his environment and made this authentic place his home.
