Regourdou Neanderthal site
800 metres above the Lascaux cave, at Montignac-Lascaux in the Dordogne, the Regourdou Neanderthal Site is a major archaeological site. The story of its discovery is told on this exceptional site, which contains the oldest Neanderthal burial site in Western Europe.
Roger Constant uncovered this archaeological treasure in 1957, in search of a second entrance to the Lascaux cave. The visit gives you the chance to get to know Neanderthal man.
Don't miss the live bears that have been reintroduced to the site, then finish your visit in the museum, which displays the items excavated from the site. Come and discover the different species of bear found in the world. Come and celebrate your birthday with games and activities about the brown bear and visit the site (booking required).
