Village des Farges
The village of Les Farges lies to the north of Montignac, famous for the Lascaux cave in the Dordogne, in the heart of the Vézère valley.
Around the 10th century, the village of Le Cheylard was founded on the right bank of the Vézère. Several centuries later, in the 15th century, the Château du Cheylard was built and became an observation post for the Château de Sauvebœuf on the opposite bank.
Around the 16th century, the inhabitants moved from Le Cheylard to the hilltop village of Les Farges.
