North of Les Eyzies in Périgord Noir, travel back in time to discover the wonders of the Grotte du Grand Roc. Discovered in 1924 and opened to the public in 1927, this natural cavity is nestled in a cliff overlooking the Vézère, a terrace on the side of the rock offering a panorama of the village of Eyzies and the river valley.
Internationally renowned, this masterpiece of nature offers crystallizations famous for their diversity: stalactites, stalagmites, eccentrics whose shapes defy the laws of gravity, fistulous, gours, calcite triangles, etc. The Grotte du Grand Roc is the only concretion cave listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Not to be missed: the nighttime visit to the cave with the hurricane lamp during the summer.
