What a story !

Discover the typical village of Plazac with its corbelled houses, its fortified church and its fountains. The “hidden treasure of Périgord Noir” offers a quick tour to learn more about local history and architecture.

Step 2: The medieval garden

After having taken the alleys laden withhistory of the town of Plazac, walkers discover the medieval spirit garden, at the foot of the magnificent Castle of the Bishops (12th century). Through hard work, the passionate volunteers gave life to this beautiful place which is one of the pride of our village.

Step 3: The Rouffignac Cave

The Rouffignac cave is one of the largest decorated caves known, with eight kilometers of galleries. First frequented by the cave bear, whose claws and nests are numerous, it was decorated, around 15000 years ago, by prehistoric artists who drew or engraved 260 representations of bison, horses, ibex…

Step 4: The Auberge de Layotte

Atypical hostel located in the middle of the woods, not far from Les Eyzies. Régis in the kitchen for 24 years, welcomes you in a friendly atmosphere. Preserved in exceptional condition since the 14th century and entirely period furnished, the Maison Forte de Reignac is the only monument of this type in France to have reached us completely intact.
