Between Vézère and Dordogne, overlooking the confluence, the peaceful village of Saint Chamassy has kept its authenticity.
More than ten houses of character (castles, mansions or fortified houses) are spread over the 1500 ha of the town.
The castle of Perdigat is the first that we discover at the entrance to the valley of Saint Chamassy. Since the beginning of the 15th century, "Le Perdigal" overlooks the plain and the Vézère which flows at its feet. Now it's a guest house.
Activities for everyone
Walk in all seasons into the deep forests of this beautiful town, without getting lost thanks to the following hiking trails :
- the loop of the dolmen (9km) invites you to discover or revisit a spot of nature. Your steps will take you to a very well preserved vestige dating from the Neolithic : the Roc de Cayre dolmen, which was the subject of archaeological studies in 1883 and whose excavations revealed the presence of a skeleton without a head and a flint. The dolmen is made of red sandstone.
- the Pech Melou loop : a varied circuit that borrows to an old stagecoach way from Audrix, on the hill, towards the ford of Vézère.
The leisure park of Etangs du Bos, situated into the forest of Saint-Chamassy offers swimming pools, a pond, an aquapark, games and activities to spend a refreshing and sporting day.
