Saint Léon sur Vézère • Dordogne
Saint Léon sur Vézère: a village, several faces
Ranked among one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France, Saint Léon is peacefully installed in a meander of the Vézère.
Overlooked by the Côte de Jor, it has the typical charm and authenticity of the medieval villages of the Black Périgord : with its warm and blond stones, pitched roofs, the maze of its couredoux (narrow alleys) and the presence of the river .
Activities for all
The base of canoes APA offers you descents of the Vézère, for a few hours or the entire day.
The Conquil Park offers a journey through time, with its troglodyte site and the models of over 25 species of dinosaurs. It also offers a tree-climbing course and many activities.
The more adventurous will also be able to climb the Côte de Jor for a paragliding flight.
Since 2001, Saint Léon sur Vézère sees, every October, more than 1000 mountain bikers coming to participate at the Rando Silex.
You can also practice mountain biking and hiking all year round, with 3 loops of small hikes :
- The loop of Hauteclair
- The loop around Saint Léon
- The loop du Roc
And a loop especially for mountain bikers:
- Montignac - Saint Léon
You can also enjoy the banks of the river for a swim, a fishing party, a picnic in the shade of the weeping soils.
Village of art and artists
One of the jewels of Saint Léon is its Romanesque church (from the 12th century), classified as a historical monument and which hosts concerts of the Black Perigord Festival during the summer season.
Many artists and craftsmen have chosen this village to settle there and use natural materials such as wood, felt, mammoth ivory, ...
