Who hasn't dreamt of getting away from it all for a weekend, without needing a car?

The Dordogne Departmental Council offers you three ideas for "petrol-free" discoveries

  • "Les Eyzies de Tayac, a journey into prehistory" from the station at Les Eyzies, located 700 metres from the town, thanks to the Périgueux-Agen railway line. Discovery of Les Eyzies, a leading prehistoric village, notably through the 8 to 15 km Micoque loop which reveals 350,000 years of human occupation in the Vézère valley with its 10 stages.
  • The "Campagne, un château et son parc" (Countryside, a castle and its park) from Le Bugue station, located 5 km away, thanks to the Périgueux-Agen railway line. Discover the banks of the Vézère on foot or by bike (it is possible to rent an electric bike in Le Bugue), the castle, the park and the forest of Campagne with two hiking loops of 5 km and 2,5 km.

  • You can visit "Limeuil, at the confluence of the Vézère and the Dordogne" from the Buisson de Cadouin station located 6 km away on the Bordeaux-Bergerac-Sarlat line or from the Le Bugue station located 6 km away on the Périgueux-Agen line (possibility of renting an electric bike in Le Bugue). You will discover the views of the Dordogne and the Vézère, as well as the village of Limeuil, classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

The Grands Sites de France network offers you Pierre's car-free nature escapade.

Pierre offers you a 2.5 day itinerary by train, bicycle and on foot over 48 kilometres, starting from Condat sur Vézère station and returning to Les Eyzies de Tayac station. This escapade will allow you to discover the villages of Condat, Montignac, Valojoulx, Saint Léon sur Vézère, Peyzac le Moustier, Tursac and les Eyzies.
