The Vézère valley by motorhome

Discover the Vézère Valley in the Dordogne throughout the seasons over a weekend, several days or over several weeks !

MOTORHOME SERVICE AREAS await you all along the valley.

At  Montignac, very close to the town centre the service area is situated on the banks of the river.  From here the Lascaux cave, international centre of parietal art, is a 20 minute walk away.

On your way down the valley be sure to stop at Saint Léon sur Vézère.  Its service area, not far from the Vézère river has all the conveniences of the municipal campsite (WC, showers with tokens …)  Explore the village, classed amongst the “most beautiful villages of France” and why not visit Le Conquil with its dinosaur park, tree-top adventure park and troglodyte site.
The canoe base APA offers trips on the river ranging from several hours to the whole day.  You will also find the Atelier Piqoli and can marvel at its jewellery and sculptures fashioned from fossilised mammoth ivory.

15 km downstream visit the village of  Les Eyzies,  the world capital of Prehistory.  The motorhome service area is situated on the shady banks of the river, just 3 minutes walk from the town centre shops.

From here walk to the National Museum of Prehistory, the Pole d’interprétation de la Préhistoire, the Abri Pataud and Abri Cro-Magnon shelters and, a short distance away, the Font de Gaume cave (attention: reservation obligatory), the crystalline Grand Roc cave and the Laugerie Basse prehistoric shelter.

Take a canoe trip on the river Vézère with one of four operators.

A little further down the river, the village of Le Bugue welcomes you with a service area also ideally located on the banks of the river, close to all conveniences.

Reach the Le Bournat heritage park, the Aquarium of the Perigord Noir and the prehistoric labyrinth in under 5 minutes and get active at the Jungle Golf, the Big Bird or even in a canoe.

In each of these villages you will find departure points for walking circuits as well as mountain bike trails.
