The village of Farges is located north of Montignac famous for the Lascaux cave in Dordogne, in the heart of the Vézère valley.
Around the 10th century, the village of Cheylard was founded on the right bank of the Vézère. Several centuries later, in the 15th century, the Château du Cheylard was built and became a real observation post over the Château de Sauveboeuf, located on the other bank.
Around the 16th century, the inhabitants changed their place of residence, abandoning Cheylard for the village of Farges, located on the heights.
